NO. 198 SOLOMON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT (2)

9. Solomon and riches

2 CHRONICLES 1: 12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like. (KJV)

The characteristic of Solomon is his immeasurable riches. These riches of Solomon represent the abundance of the Holy Spirit poured on us as they are. Now, as He pours His riches on us abundantly, it surely excels the rich that any king of this world pours.

1 CORINTHIANS 12: 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. (KJV)

10. Solomon and peace

1 KINGS 4: 24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river; and he had peace on all sides round about him. (KJV)

Solomon means peace. When this Person, the Holy Spirit, has dominion, we, Christians, have peace. It is as written,

JOHN 14: 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (KJV)

And, it is also as written,

GALATIANS 5: 22, 23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)

It is the noteworthy description, gHe had peace on all sides round about him.h These passages clearly tell that the true peace is in the dominion of the Holy Spirit as we pursue the true peace and rest.

11. Solomon and the establishment of the kingdom

1 KINGS 2: 46 And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon. (KJV)

It is the meaningful word that the kingdom of David was established in the hand of Solomon. Our Lord Jesus lived in this world as Son of man, preached the Gospel, was crucified and achieved the redemption. But the word shows that the Kingdom, the Kingdom of Christ, would be established by the Holy Spirit. In relation to this, it is strange that when the people are numbered those who used the swords were recorded less than two million in totals in the days of David. Yet soon after that in the days of Solomon, it is repeatedly written emphatically as,

1 KINGS 3: 8, 5: 7 3: 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chose, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

5: 7 Blesses be the Lord this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people. (KJV)

Why? Donft these show the following? That is, Jesus who came to this world as Son of man in flesh could achieve only finite work. Though there may be some people who do not agree to the word gfinite,h Christ Himself acknowledged that His work was finitude (here area finitude), saying, gI am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.h But the work of the Holy Spirit is not finite. As it shows symbolically that the people spoke in other tongues, in many languages of foreign countries, the work of the Holy Spirit is not only on Israel but also on whole world, and the number of people who can hear Gospel is not limited. Doesnft the description of the number of the people in the days of Solomon show this fact? In short, the number of the people who had relation to David, Christ in flesh, is limited, but the Christians who Solomon, the Holy Spirit, rules and leads gcannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.h

12. Solomon and the marriage with many strange women

1 KINGS 3: 1, 11: 1 3: 1 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaohfs daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

11: 1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites. (KJV)

The strange thing in the descriptions of the marriage of Solomon is that they are all written about the strange women. Solomon loved the daughter of Pharaoh and many strange women. What does this mean? Of course, it was not pleasing God to marry strange woman at that time. In fact, these women led Solomonfs hear into other gods. Yet, other than such things, I feel some Godfs intention in that only the marriage of Solomon with the strange women among the descriptions of his marriage is especially emphasized. There is no description of his marriage with woman of Israel.

Well, who is the daughter of Pharaoh? Pharaoh is the king of Egypt, and Egypt symbolizes this world. Therefore, his daughter means no other than children of this world, the Gentiles. It is written, Solomon married the daughter of Pharaoh, and he built the house for her (1 Kings 7: 8). This shows the Holy Spirit who marries us, the children of this world, and provides with place as brides. In contrast to Solomon, there is no special description about Davidfs marriage with foreign women. For, David symbolizes Christ in flesh, and Christ was gnot sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.h

But in contrast to this, after the Holy Spirit came down, many Gentiles were touched by this Gospel and were made wives of Solomon, the Holy Spirit, that is, the Spirit of Christ. That shows this fact. What is noticed concerning his marriage with strange women is that the multitude of the number of the women he loved.

1 KINGS 11: 3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines. (KJV)

He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines, in total one thousand women. David had ten concubines and maybe three wives. We know there is great difference between the numbers of women of these two kings. What does this mean? This fact seems to indicate that the Gentiles of multitude are saved and are made brides to Christ by the Holy Spirit coming down. As I have repeated it, the work of Jesus Christ in flesh is limited. But the work of the Holy Spirit who has come down after Him is not limited. These descriptions show the multitude of the people whom the Holy Spirit saves. It is just as Christ said as below.

JOHN 16: 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. (KJV)

13. Solomon and the multitude of sacrifices

2 CHRONICLES 5: 6, 7: 1 5: 6 Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.

7: 1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house. (KJV)

It is written in these descriptions that Solomon offered many sacrifices before God. The sacrifices mean ourselves, as is written in Romans 12: 1, gYe present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.h It is also here written concerning the multitude, gwhich could not be told nor numbered for multitude.h This may mean that the Holy Spirit has come down on many people so that they are prepared as the sacrifices to God. And, it is written, gthe fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices.h The fire that consumes us as the sacrifices reminds us of that (the Holy Spirit) of Pentecost (Acts 2: 1). God as the Holy Spirit has dwelled in us through this fire of the Holy Spirit. It is as precisely written, gThe glory of the Lord filled the house.h

14. Solomon and the freedom

2 CHRONICLES 8: 9 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen. (KJV)

Another characteristic is to free prisoners and deliver them, as is written that the Lord is Spirit and where the Spirit is there is freedom. And this is also written in the description of Solomon. The strange thing of this verse is that it is written on purpose, gof the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war.h Kings who made no servants of the children of Israel were not rare. Saul and David were so. Yet such a thing is written only about Solomon. This is because God emphasizes the Person who sets us free through this description.

15. The place where the Temple of the Lord was built

2 CHRONICLES 3: 1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. (KJV)

We are also taught of the Lord some thing from the place where the Temple was built. Where is it? It is in mount Moriah at Jerusalem. Once we hear mount Moriah, we immediately remember the story that Abraham devoted Isaac. Well, we feel something deeply meaningful. As I repeat it often, the Temple refers to us Christians who are given the Holy Spirit of God. But what is the ground for that such sinful men like us are made the Temple of God? God answers that the ground is in mount Moriah where the Temple is built. God answers that the sacrifices of the only son Isaac who was devoted by Abraham and of the Son of God who was symbolized by that are the ground. The Bible says that the ground for that the people of this world like us are given the Holy Spirit and made the Temple of God is only one that is on the sacrifice of the only Son of God.

16. The Temple to be cast out

2 CHRONICLES 7: 18, 20 19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. (KJV)

Lastly, letfs see the description about the Temple to be cast out. When we see these warnings about the Temple, donft we fear in heart? These descriptions are now literally the warning to us who are the Temple of God. It is only based on Godfs grace that we are graciously given the Holy Spirit and made the Temple of God. If we turn away from God and serve other gods, we should never forget that we will be cast out of His sight and be made to be a proverb and a byword among all nations as written here. This is the warning to us Christians.

17. 666 and Solomon

Let me say the things of the end time at last.

It is mentioned the number 666 on Revelation. This is the mysterious number of antichrist, and it is written only on Revelation in the New Testament of the Bible. Well, how about in the Old Testament? It is only written on one verse no other than on the description about Solomon.

1 KINGS 10: 14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold. (KJV)

What does this fact say? It may be this. If Solomon is surely the type of the Holy Spirit, doesnft the beast of 666 that will appear in the age of Revelation of the end time actually show that he is related to spirit? He is not the Holy Spirit but the devil. Of course, though he has some relation to men, antichrist has great meaning in spirit. Actually, the word Christ means the anointed One and is related to the Spirit. As a result, the word antichrist may possibly have relation to the spirit.

It seems that the meaning of the number 666 simply written on the description about Solomon gives such hidden suggestion. Therefore, it will be the point to pay attention to and consider the spirits in the end time. It is very important to discern the spirits before we jump to such phenomena as gold teeth or powder in the meetings where unreasonable spirits are active behind the scene and recently as feather coming down.

Letfs do the will of the Lord in the end time.

End.
