“Seven year
covenant of destruction” by Jeremiah
―Christians
will make a covenant with the anti-Christ for seven years―
Today, I would like us to have a look at the title, “seven
years covenant”. Daniel
tells us that the country of the beast or the anti-Christ will make a strong
covenant of destruction with many Christians during the tribulation in End
Times as below.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the
covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause
the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations
he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined
shall be poured upon the desolate.
We believe that the one week which also means seven
years covenant is closely related to the Christians and their eternal life. It
is definitely not talking about a seven year peace agreement in middle East
Asia as many people like to believe.
Rather, it is more serious and seems to prophesize that
there will be seven years period when Christians cancel the covenant of eternal
life with Christ and make a covenant with anti-Christ. Let’s
take a close look at this. The scripture from Daniel is part of the prophesy
about 70 weeks of Daniel. We are going to take a look from Daniel 9:24-30 and
think about the covenant with anti-Christ which happens in End Times.
Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined
upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to
make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the most Holy.
The Bible prophesizes that the day will come in End
Times when Christians who made the covenant of eternal life with Christ will
surprisingly make a covenant (of destruction) with the anti-Christ.
Why on earth is such day going to come? The Bible says
that the day actually will not come suddenly, but as a part of the 70 weeks of
Daniel.
<Seven is the number for revenge>
70 weeks seems to have some hidden meanings. It could
be translated as 70 weeks, but it originally means “70
times 7”.
There is a scripture which describes about “70
times 7”.
Matthew 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and
said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till
seven times?
18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto
thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
This scripture uses “70
times 7”. Because it is described in the
same way as 70 weeks, we can see that these are related. Here, it talks about
that we should forgive brothers up to 70 times 7, not just 7 times. But you can
also understand that if your brothers keep sinning beyond the limit, it is
possible that there comes the consequence of the sin. In fact, Daniel tells us
that the people kept sinning beyond the 70 weeks of God’s
love and forgiveness and God’s
wrath came upon them consequently.
Number 7 is related to “revenge”.
Genesis 4;24 says “If Cain shall
be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold”. So, once we understand
this aspect of number 7, we can see why it is written that the anti-Christ is
going to make a strong covenant for 7 years. It cannot be 6 or 8 years. It has
got to be 7 years.
Through the fact that anti-Christ is going to make a
strong covenant for 7 years with rebellious Christians, we can understand that
this disaster is caused as the result of God’s
revenge against rebellious churches and Christians. Let’s
keep reading Daniel.
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand,
that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem
unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:
the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Here, we see that God’s perseverance, kindness, and help will last for 70 weeks. This
means God gave His Grace to already destroyed Jerusalem and commanded through
the king of other nation to “build Jerusalem again”.
That is how Jerusalem has been rebuilt. Not only that,
they were even given the Messiah who has been wanted for long
time. Indeed, God stayed patient, poured His love, and
worked behind the scene for 70 years to help His people leave their sins and
come back to Him.
<The wrath of God will come upon>
Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two
weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the
prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof
shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
But, how did his people respond to such considerations
of God? Did they repent of their sins and changed the way they live?
The answer is found in “Messiah
be cut off”.
Not only did they not repent, but rather they continued
to sin and went against God to eventually arrest the Son of God and crucified
Him.
<The 7 year covenant of destruction will
be made with an anti-Christ >
Now, we need to know that God’s
love and patience which used to forgive 7 times 70 have changed. And it is
almost the end of 70th week.
What happened was God’s
love and patience went over the limit when His only Son was killed, and since
then God’s
incredible wrath for revenge came upon rebellious people.
“the people of the
prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary”
In fact, God’s
revenge came upon the rebellious people. This means that “the people of the prince that shall come”
which are Roman army “destroyed the
city and the sanctuary” which
means Jerusalem and its sanctuary were destroyed in A.D 70; 40 years after
Christ’s
death.
As a result, Jerusalem was destroyed by Rome and its
people were killed to the last one. This explains to us that extreme wrath of
God did come upon the sinful people.
Now, the event above is something that happened on the
day Lord came for the first time. But we shouldn’t
forget that this prophesy of 70 weeks has double meanings.
This prophesy became reality when Christ came to the
earth for the first time and will happen again when He returns. We can then
understand that the same thing will be repeated.
This means
1. The people of the Old Testament failed to repent by
the end of the 70th week. They even killed anointed Jesus and ended up
incurring the terrible wrath of God.
2. In the same way, Christians and churches in the New
Testament will not repent and change their lives before the 70th week despite
God’s
repeated warnings. They also grieve the Holy Spirit in churches and receive God’s
strong wrath as a result.
As you can see, the same pattern will be repeated. Not
to mention that it is the Christian and churches which receive the wrath of God
when their rebellious attitude reaches the worst point. There is no way that
the Jews will be suddenly chosen on the day and take the punishment for them.
We shouldn’t believe the lie of dispensation
doctrine.
Now, what happened when the Lord came for the first
time is a historical event, so by leaning it properly, we can roughly assume
what could happen in End Times. This is because these two events will clearly
happen in the same pattern.
Then, how do these prophesy become reality in End
Times? Let’s think about it.
“Anointed one
will be cut off”
Let’s
remember the history from the beginning of the church era starts with blessing by
God’s
anointed oil and Holy Spirit’s
help and grace. However, the churches will become rebellious and rebel against
Holy Spirit as it is written in the scriptures below.
2 Thessalonians 2:6 And now ye know what
withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already
work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
This part describes the day when the Holy Spirit is
rejected. Holy Spirit is indeed going to be taken out of the church and driven
out. Also, there is another scripture which describes Jesus being rejected as
we can see from scriptures below.
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door,
and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him,
and will sup with him, and he with me.
This part describes how Jesus was kicked out of the
door at the church of Laodikeia. The scriptures like this help us understand
that the rebellious churches in End Times will cut off the anointed one (i.e.
Holy Spirit)
“the people of the
prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary”
Now, this will be repeated again in End Times. When
Jesus came to the earth for the first time, it was the Roman soldiers who
destroyed Jerusalem and sanctuary. It will be repeated when He returns but it
seems to become reality through parables. According to the Lord, the temple
rather means the body of Christ (church) than the building. Please remember the
scripture below.
John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them,
Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years
was this temple in building, and wilt thou
rear it up in three days?
2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
As you can see here, the temple means
rather the body of Christ than a building, so the destruction of the temple in
End Times suggests that the body of Christ is going to be destroyed instead of
a building.
When we think about “the
people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary”
from this point of view, we can see that the time will come when the foundation
of Christian churches will be destroyed by anti-Christ and the country of
beast.
“the end
thereof shall be with a flood”
The rebellious churches in End Times will reject the
Holy Spirit, and as the result, they will become dominated by the flood of
demons. The revival movements happening around Pentecostal churches at the
moment are the classic examples. People like Benny Hinn and Rodney Howard are
the ones that can cause the flood of demons.
“unto the end
of the war desolations are determined”
This explains that the war lasts until the end at the
churches, the attacks will never cease, and there comes complete lost and
destruction in the end. Jerusalem was completely destroyed and people were
killed to the last one. This will be repeated in the churches in End Times. The
rebellious churches will lose the battle, and get destroyed therefore no one
will have the eternal life. This is already pre-determined.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the
covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause
the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of
abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that
determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
When looking at “he
shall confirm the covenant with many for one week”,
we need to know the meaning of the covenant in this context. This word
originally comes from the word which was used in relation to the eternal
covenant made between Abraham and
God.
Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee
in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
This covenant indicates the covenant which is made with
God about the eternal life and inheritance of eternity. Abraham is the father
of all Israelites as well as us in the New Testament era. So, the covenant he
made is closely related to us as well. Indeed, it is fair to say that we are
also made the eternal covenant with God through Abraham.
And, the covenant of one week (seven years) in Daniel
is made to stay against the covenant Abraham made. To be precise, anyone who
will make the covenant with anti-Christ and the country of beast will quite likely
lose the covenant with God completely. The covenant of one week is targeted to
Christians to steal the precious things they have which is the eternal life and
cancel the eternal covenant with God.
Also, it says “he
shall confirm the covenant with many”.
This means that many Christians will agree to the covenant which is to abandon
the eternal life God is offering. Therefore, as I have been insisting, the
righteous Christians should not stay at the rebellious churches and move to the
underground churches.
“in the midst
of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease”
In the midst of the week means 3.5 days, and this
represents 3 and a half years of tribulation period. Then, the offerings and
sacrifices given to God from the churches are going to be ceased. What is the offerings and sacrifices?
These are offerings and sacrifices offered to God at every Sunday service held
in church.
They are bread and oil which also represent message
about the salvation found in Christ which is preached at the churches. The true
message will vanish from the churches.
“for the
overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate”
This describes that anti-Christ will turn up at God’s
temple and steal the seat for Christ.
We need to know that the Bible implies that the
terrible day will come to the future churches. There will be seven years when
Christians are encouraged to make a covenant of destruction with anti-Christ.
We have to get the necessary preparations done for the day.
End.
The day of destruction of the temple will be
repeated.
